The outlook indicates what the Confederation, in collaboration with the cantons and communes, plans to achieve through its equality policy over the coming years.
Women and men participate equally in economic, family and social life. They enjoy the same level of social security throughout their lives and the freedom of a respectful environment, free from discrimination and violence.
This means, in particular, that women and men must be able to work at sufficiently high rates, receive equal pay for work of equal value, be able to balance work and family life more effectively, and be able to share domestic tasks in a balanced way. It should be stressed that without equal rights and personal security, autonomy is severely hampered. That is why combating violence against women and domestic violence, as well as discrimination, stereotypes and sexism, are major elements of the strategy.
